About DeClutterbugs
Hello, I am Melanie, the founder of Declutterbugs. I am a declutter coach and professional organiser.
Melanie- about me.
I have had a varied career but helping others has always been at the core of it. I grew up on a farm, where there was always clutter, because farmers keep everything, ‘just in case’. There was always straw in the house and I would spend a lot of my time clearing up after my Dad, who did not have the time or inclination to keep the house tidy. It is from here that my love of decluttering, order and having things in the right place grew.
As I got older my friends would ask me to ‘sort their houses out’ with them. I realised how much I enjoyed this and failed to see why they thought it was a ‘task’. I saw the positive impact it would have on their mental health and their ability to continue to keep things clutter free with the support that I gave.
I went on to have careers in banking, the Civil Service, The Probation Service, in educational settings and then a charity helping people who were potentially or currently homeless. It was during my work with several clients with hoarding behaviours that I realised decluttering and assisting someone to have a clear calm space was my passion. I have worked with people from all sectors of life with an array of skills and difficulties. The combination of the skills I have acquired from my career, my sense of organisation and my love of turning clutter to calm meant setting up Declutterbugs was the natural next step in my life.
I hope to meet you soon, please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.
Melanie
